A Winter Getaway Journey in Cabo
A winter getaway in Cabo with friends is an absolute must. While I love solo travel, I cherish the opportunity to travel with family and close friends occasionally. This past January, I took a trip to Los Cabos, Mexico, with some of my closest girlfriends, which was full of unforgettable experiences.
The Perfect Girls' Trip to Cabo
It’s rare for all of us to get together—we lead busy, hectic lives. Our group included:
One friend who is a grandmother
A single mother of twin girls
A single mother of a son
Two friends who have recently become empty nesters
My best friend and I, both unmarried and without children
This blend of personalities created the perfect recipe for fun and relaxation. We were a diverse group of women, each in different life stages yet all needing a fun and relaxing escape. Where to go? The answer was simple—Los Cabos, Mexico!
Why We Chose Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos: Luxury & Comfort
For a weekend getaway, we had a few must-haves:
✅ All-inclusive
✅ Adults-only
✅ Oceanfront spa resort
Le Blanc Spa Resort Los Cabos checked every box.
Would you believe me if I said I’m an introvert? Well, I am! I love my alone time and stick to quiet, exclusive resorts when I travel. As an introvert who prefers peaceful places, I appreciate less crowded, exclusive resorts. Le Blanc Spa Resort provides the ideal balance of relaxation and luxury.
This trip was about friendship, relaxation, and fun—and Le Blanc was perfect, offering:
🌊 Oceanfront location – Stunning beach views!
🏖️ Four pools + two outdoor hot tubs – Total relaxation.
🍴 Eight upscale restaurants – Endless gourmet dining options.
🍹 Five bars (including two swim-up bars) – All-inclusive luxury.
Although the beach is beautiful, swimming isn't recommended due to the cold, choppy Pacific waters.
Dining & Indulgence in Cabo
With eight upscale restaurants serving American, French, Italian, Mediterranean, Mexican, and Asian cuisines, everyone found something delicious. The resort also has five bars (including two swim-up bars) offering unlimited food and drinks—a definite plus!
However, watch out for the resort's café, filled with irresistible pastries, ice cream, donuts, cookies, and French macarons (my kryptonite!). It's delightful trouble if you're mindful of your waistline.
Activities, Experiences & Adventure!
Beyond relaxation, Le Blanc offers many complimentary activities, such as:
Wellness sessions
Hydrotherapy
Beach volleyball
Dancing & karaoke
Relaxation by the pool or beach
For more adventurous experiences, the resort arranges excursions through trusted vendors. As a solo traveler, I appreciate curated activities that add an extra layer of security.
Here are some of my favorite experiences:
Private Yacht Experience – Sunset & Whale Watching
Our three-hour private yacht tour included an open bar and delicious appetizers. We cruised by the iconic Arch Rock Formation and navigated the Sea of Cortez, the Gulf of California, and the Pacific Ocean.
Depending on the time of year, whale watching is included. We were blessed to spot many whales, including mothers swimming alongside their calves—a surreal and magical experience, enhanced by a gorgeous sunset and expansive ocean views. Experiencing God's presence all around me was mesmerizing.
Sitting at the front of the yacht, watching the sunset over the vast ocean while whales swam nearby, was an experience I will never forget.
Arch & Camel Safari – A Desert Meets Ocean Adventure
Yes, camels in Los Cabos!
Camels on the beach? Absolutely! First, let me begin by mentioning how vital God’s creation is to me. I am a steward of His creation regarding animals—except for scary crawling creatures and snakes (by the way, all snakes are poisonous! jk).
I love animals (I am a sucker for them!), and it is very important to me that I do my part in caring for and respecting God’s beautiful creation. Los Cabos has a camel sanctuary in Baja California Sur, which has received the prestigious Humane Certification for ethical animal care. They rescue many camels and give them a better quality of life.
Our short but serene camel ride along the Pacific coast offered stunning ocean views on one side and desert landscapes on the other. Listening to the ocean (with occasional whale sightings) and enjoying the peaceful scenery was unforgettable. Afterward, we interacted with the camels—I especially loved meeting Lolita, a sweet three-year-old camel who gave little nose nudges while posing for photos.
The experience included an authentic Mexican buffet with fresh tortillas, rice, beans, and the best Mexican mole I've tasted! While tequila tasting was offered, I opted for the delicious Café de Olla (Mexican clay-pot coffee), which was so amazing that I just had to get the recipe. All their food is freshly made daily—no leftovers here!
We ended the day with an exciting hour-long speedboat ride to the Arch, where we saw seals sunbathing and more whales swimming nearby. Racing across the Pacific at over 100 mph added an exhilarating finish to the day!
Spa Day at Aura Los Cabos
I always love a spa day during my vacations to ensure true relaxation. It's ironic how we often need extra recovery days after vacations because of all our activities. A vacation day from our vacation! Aura Los Cabos Spa was luxurious and tranquil, offering various invigorating treatments for both men and women. Our group of seven ladies chose personalized services, including facials, body scrubs, wraps, and massages focused on detox, wellness, and holistic care. It was heavenly! Their complimentary Hydrotherapy Journey was a fantastic bonus available to all hotel guests.
Final Thoughts – A Winter Escape to Remember
This was my first visit to Los Cabos, but certainly not my last. Spending quality time with friends in such a dreamy setting was truly unforgettable.
For anyone planning a winter getaway, I highly recommend Los Cabos in January—
Perfect weather
Fewer crowds
Breathtaking scenery
The combination of friendship, relaxation, adventure, and luxury made this one of the best trips.
